In the educational unit, teacher is a school component who has a very important role to promote the quality of education. According to Prajudi Atmosudirjo (1982: 60) in Yamin and Maisah (2010: 26), it stated that teachers have a substantial role in education, they shouldering the responsibility of education quality. Therefore, teachers has important role in improving the quality of education and developing themselves to improve their competences and performances. According to Sudarma (2013), a professional teacher is the one who has a set of competencies of knowledge, skills, and behavior that must be possessed, internalized, and controlled when carrying out his/her professional duties. It was stated in the Law No. 14 of 2005 article 1 that teachers are professional educators with the main task of educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, grading, and evaluating students in early childhood education stream of formal education, basic education, and secondary education. Teacher professional development emphasizes the teachers’ readiness to work.

Philosophy has brought great changes to the development of science and thought. The history of philosophy is not always straight, sometimes it turns back, while the history of science is always advanced. In the history of human knowledge, philosophy and science are always interrelated. Philosophy and science have a connection in finding the truth. Science is in charge of describing and philosophy is in charge of interpreting universal phenomena, the truth is existed throughout thinking, while the truth of science is throughout experience. The purpose of doing philosophy is to find the real truth. If the real truth is systematically arranged, it is a systematic philosophy. The systematic philosophy is usually divided into three major branches, namely knowledge, nature, and values theory.
